To inform the public about the disease of alcoholism and substance abuse through information and education, to promote early treatment and rehabilitation of persons with drinking problems and/or substance abuse problems, their families and their children, to increase public awareness of alcoholism, to advocate and/or develop essential services for the treatment and prevention of substance abuse, to provide consultation services to interested persons and community leaders.

The Council has been committed to providing a high-quality prevention services to school districts, communities, businesses, and colleges. To ensure a comprehensive approach, we have adopted and implemented the following strategies from the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc., NCADD:
Provide objective information and referrals for individuals and family members seeking treatment for various addictions.
Provide community-based prevention, education and training programs, as well as local media awareness campaigns.
Advocate for the rights of alcoholic and drug dependent persons and their families at the local, state and national levels.
Increase awareness and understanding through programs at schools, churches, youth centers, senior centers, civic and community organizations.
